The Side Quests Guild has been established since Level 1 and the credentials are legitimate, even if the main storyline has been sitting in the quest log untouched for several sessions while other, more interesting things came up. The fishing rod, the spatula, the lock, the hammer. These are the tools of someone who found seventeen things they'd rather be doing and pursued all of them with complete commitment.

The main quest will still be there. It has been there. It will continue to be there with the marker on the map and the urgent NPC waiting at the destination and the fate of the world technically hanging in the balance, none of which is as immediately compelling as the side quest that just appeared over here involving something completely unrelated and significantly more interesting.

There's an argument to be made that the side quests are the game. The world-building, the unexpected characters, the lore that doesn't fit anywhere in the main narrative but adds something to it anyway. The Professional Side Quester isn't avoiding the story. They're finding the parts of it that the main objective was too busy to notice.
