The apple is mid-fall. Newton is having a moment. The program is, apparently, ongoing.
The story goes that Isaac Newton watched an apple fall from a tree and arrived at the foundational principles of gravitational theory. What the story leaves out is what his face looked like when it happened, which this illustration has taken a reasonable position on. The man who gave the world the three laws of motion, calculus, and the reflecting telescope was also, by most historical accounts, famously difficult to get along with. The anger management program was probably not his idea.
For the physicists, the Newton enthusiasts, the history of science crowd, the people who appreciate a pun that required actual knowledge to construct, and anyone who has ever needed a reminder that what goes up must, eventually, calm down.
